Description
This wine from Tbilvino is a very Georgian affair. Its name comes from the Qvevri, a traditional subterranean clay pot that’s used to ferment wine in Georgia. This gives Qvevri amber wines tannins approaching those of red wines, as well as a complexity of flavour and structure not found in other white wines. Rkatsiteli is one of the oldest grapes in the world, traditional to Georgia. This traditional wine is not pressed off the skins until 6 months after primary fermentation. It is this extended skin contact which gives it an appealing amber/ orange colour. Deep and rich aromas of pine, pear and quince minglw with flavours that include quince, apple and stewed fruit. Thanks to its unique tannin structure, it pairs well with both white and red grilled meats and vegetables. It also holds up well to spicy dishes.
